Antique Civil War Model 1852 Navy Officer Sword with Leather Scabbard.   The blade is is very nicely engraved, including “US” and “Iron Proof” and marked “Clauberg / Solingen” (German manufacturer) with a trademark on one side and Schuyler, Hartley & Graham, New York (U.S. importer) on the other side.  Very distinctive brass hilt with wire wrapped fish skin grip. The blade is 29 inches long and the overall length is 35 inches.  The blade is in excellent condition with no chips or corrosion.  The blade has a nice patena consistent with its age.  The hilt is in excellent condition and is tight.  The fish skin is about 95% intact due to wear and wire is 100% intact.  The leather scabbard and fittings are in very good condition considering the age of this item.  The top fitting on the scabbard is a loose due to a 1/4 inch crack on the bottom of the fitting at the seam and will slide upwards if pulled.  This item is guaranteed authentic.
